Report a Flower or Fruit Sighting

Understanding when and where Posidonia meadows are flowering and producing viable seeds is crucial. If we can identify those meadows, we can collect seeds and grow them in aquaria to support large-scale restoration efforts across NSW and beyond. If you spot Posidonia flowers or fruit, we'd love to hear from you!

Required Information

Upload one or more photos of the Posidonia flowering event (max 40MB per file)

Note: Only JPG, JPEG, or PNG files are accepted. HEIC files (the default iPhone format) are not supported and will not upload correctly.

You can find a morphology infographic below that will help you identify and measure spike count, stem length, and Leaf length

Select 1 flowering plant and count number of spikes
Measure from ligule to the base of inflorescence
Measure from ligule to the end of the longest leaf

Enter depth in meters if you were diving or snorkelling

How to change your image file type

For new photos:

  1. Open Settings → Camera → Formats.
  2. Under Camera Capture, select Most Compatible.
  3. (All future photos will now save as JPGs.)

For existing photos:

  1. Open the Photos app and select the image(s).
  2. Tap Share → Save to Files.
  3. Choose a location and tap Save.
  4. (This automatically converts the photo to a JPG file.)
